The trainers and owners at CFE are committed to your success. They also lift big and heavy things.
I started Crossfit in 2008. Between going to school getting my Plant Science and Biology degree and the regular gym workouts I was bored. I walked into Crossfit Cache Valley (Utah) where I immediately fell in love with the program. I started interning to be a trainer after my first month, got my level 1, and haven’t looked back. What drew me in was that I was able to work in a place where people were excited to be there every day. They came in and forgot all about their shitty day at work. Everyone left the gym feeling better than they did when they showed up. That still happens today and keeps me loving my job. The community we have built is a giant extended family. We work together, play together, help each other move. It’s been really amazing to see a group of strangers come together and support each other so much. Aside from Crossfit I am also a partner in Momentum-Gear where we sell fitness equipment. We sell products based on our knowledge gained coaching over the years and based on our own personal philosophies of community and integrity. Outside of work I keep a few saltwater aquariums, pet my kitty and also enjoy hiking.
I started doing Crossfit with my husband and business partner Jack in 2008 in Utah where we grew up. We fell in love with the sport as soon as we started. We decided to bring two things we loved together (fitness and the NW) and we moved away from own hometown and home box to open our own gym in Washington in 2010. This is where we have established an amazing community beyond our expectations. I love coaching Crossfit, Olympic weightlifting (especially to newcomers), yoga (7 years of experience), and organizing events to bring our community closer. In my non-coaching hours I travel and teach double under clinics at gyms all around the US and run our other business Momentum-Gear where we sell fitness products. I feel it creates a broader connection to other CF gyms and fuels a greater sense of community. My passion lies in positively affecting other’s lives and helping them reach their maximum potential. I am a nationally ranked Olympic lifter. This has been a great adventure. Besides fitness my other loves in life are animals, art, music, hiking and learning new skills all the time.
I grew up playing soccer, baseball, and football year round. Being competitive was an understatement. But, as just about anybody can say, life takes over and you lose your edge, and that is exactly what happened with me. A good friend of mine finally convinced me to make a change. Now, after starting at CrossFit Epiphany in May 2012, I can happily say that I have rediscovered that edge and embrace it as often as possible inside and outside of the gym. Personally, CrossFit has made a remarkable difference in my lifestyle. I am a Captain for a local fire department, and being in shape is important for a number of reasons for my job. More importantly, though, the changes I have made in diet and fitness since joining Crossfit Epiphany have corrected some medical issues that I thought I would be burdened with for the rest of my life. Jack and Aubry and the rest of the coaches helped me reach the goals that made a difference in my life, and we are here to do the same for you. I’ve been coaching here since March 2015. I enjoy the camaraderie, the friendly competition with other athletes, and the internal competition that I have with myself every time I start a WOD. I love seeing people make progress, whether it’s small or large. I truly believe that anyone at any age or background can start Crossfit and get the desired results they are looking for!
I joined CFE in 2011, looking to do some strength training during the running off-season. I bought a Groupon early one morning without knowing anything about CrossFit. Little did I know how much walking through those doors would change my life! I had run a few half-marathons, but I didn’t consider myself athletic. I had never been into sports or fitness. After that first newbie workout, I never turned back (even though I almost passed out on day 1!). Each day is a new opportunity to challenge myself to be the best version of me that I can be. I became CFE Coach Certified in March of 2015. Coaching is the best part of my day, and I love helping our athletes achieve their goals. I understand that sometimes just getting through the door can be a major victory, and I’m committed to making sure that decision was worth it. CrossFit is a family affair for me. My husband Ernest is regular at CFE, and my oldest son Alex also joins in on the fun. Our youngest son, Relio, is a competitive gymnast. When I’m not coaching, I’m a Senior Project Manager for a web development agency in Portland called Cloud Four. I like to nerd on out web technology and I speak Spanish a veces.
I have been involved in sports since I was 5 years old. They have taught me how to be a dedicated, responsible, & hard working adult. I am not sure who or where I would be if I never were to get involved with sports. I joined the Epiphany family in September 2012. I knew I was bored with my workouts at those "other gyms", so I decided to do CrossFit. I feel stronger and more fit than I ever have in my life. Two years later I was being certified to become a coach. I really enjoy pushing the athletes at Epiphany to go harder & to never give up! I love when people leave the gym and they have a huge smile on their faces because of what they had just accomplished. When I am not coaching, I am a teacher. I currently teach Physical Education and Health through k12. I have been teaching middle school and high school for the past 16 years. I play softball on a traveling team and love every minute of it. Some other activities I enjoy are going for hikes, camping, playing my PS4, reading a good book, watching movies & playing games with my family. I also enjoy playing with my two Bengal cats Mox and Skyla and my Siberian Husky Kai. I am recently engaged for the first time in my life and am enjoying life with my family and friends.
Strength Coach, Trainer
I had always been an athlete (hockey, soccer, running, hoops) but my girlfriend had to talk me into trying CrossFit because it didn't seem like my thing. It turned out to be EXACTLY my thing, and I've loved it ever since I joined CFE in 2011. Having a community this strong pulling for each other makes me feel like I can achieve anything – in the gym or in life. It's amazing to watch people make huge progress, whether that's gaining strength and speed, changing their bodies or becoming mentally tougher. As a coach, I love working with people to help them do things they didn't think possible, one little step at a time. When I'm not CrossFitting I'm co-founder and Chief Creative Officer at TeamSnap, a web and mobile service that helps recreational sports teams communicate stay organized. I also perform and teach improv at ComedySportz Portland, because life needs more laughter. During winter you'll find me running 10k races around the world and visiting other CrossFit boxes where the word "kettlebell" needs no translation.
